Report on the Results:  Class seven students under the supervision of their Science teacher, Ms Sana Qayyum, assembled and presented models of space devices/ satellites related to the first moon landing. Relevant information was presented to the audience for the corridor display, which were the Matriculation students from Senior School; they were asked a quick quiz at the end of the display. BSS-CSGC Junior Primary and Middle School believe in extending learning beyond the classrooms. Today Middle School STEM Club President Rameen Nadeem and Vice President Dua Pervaiz conducted an interactive World Space Week Awareness Talk Session with all eight sections of class three students in SDC. An interactive PPT presentation was shown to them and they were actively engaged by asking and answering questions. As a wrap up, students in groups accepted the challenge to colour the rockets within a minute. Two groups were declared winners. It was a fun filled educational session. Class VIII-C presented a reenactment of the first moon landing which we celebrate its 50th anniversary this year, followed by an interview role play to get the message across the student body of the importance of this milestone and to promote in them the revival of interest for the exploration of the Moon, in line with this year's theme: “The Moon: Gateway to the Stars. Participants of the recently held SUPARCO competitions in Space Calligraphy, 3D Model Making and Poster Making were awarded with certificates of participation. ” Children of Early Years participated enthusiastically and parent's effort in designing costumes and making this day a memorable one for their kids was immensely appreciated. The Upper Primary Section, in collaboration with Middle School, set up a mini Planetarium in the Music room to celebrate World Space Week 2019, projecting images of the starry sky and countless spectacular objects we find in our universe, creating educational experiences for class four students about astronomy and related topics in general science like “The Earth and Beyond”, the current lesson in class four. The constellations station, which projected the night sky with four different constellations namely: Scorpius, Aquila, Little Dipper and Big Dipper, was among the most interesting features in the said Planetarium. Another station in the Planetarium was the linear depiction of the eight planets in our solar system plus the dwarf planet Pluto. Students took special interest in the general information that accompanied the beautifully made planets by class six students. The third station was the replica of the first moon landing with information about Apollo 11 and the space suits worn by the first astronauts to step on the moon in 1969. The last stop was the miniature model of Space X and its vision to make the moon a tourist destination and future refueling station for space crafts that will travel across the solar system or beyond and as the site for further cosmic research. This was the conclusion of the theme of this year’s World Space Week celebration, “The MOON: Gateway to the stars". The Planetarium has served to inspire and educate class four students about our surroundings-the Earth itself and our place in the Universe. It was a place in which the students became enthused about the cosmic world. At the end of the activity, class four students were asked about their learning and any interesting facts they have acquired through the Planetarium tour.
